What's Coming in SharePoint 2013?
SharePoint 13 is just around the corner and we’re ready. Concept Searching is an active member of the Microsoft Technology Adoption Program (TAP) and have been working closely with Microsoft on SharePoint 13. The TAP program is a vehicle for Microsoft to get early feedback on new products or product updates as well as give important customers a heads-up on what Microsoft is up to. Participation is by invitation only, and participants must make a serious commitment to testing and feedback. We are up and running and ready to ensure new and existing clients will have a smooth transition to the new platform.
With all the buzz about the upcoming release and as you evaluate the projected benefits as more information is released, it is probably a good time to review your unstructured content strategy and start putting the pieces in place to fully manage your content infrastructure. If you don’t have a strategy it’s a good time to start thinking about one. There is more focus on taking the Term Store to the next level with Managed Navigation capabilities, which relies on the taxonomy for navigation (finally). Search has been totally revamped, with the merging of SharePoint and FAST search. Site Navigation can be created directly within the Term Store. A new web part ‘Content Search’ allows you to aggregate content from across site collections. Regardless of your version or your decision to move to the new release, investigating new and better ways to manage content and leverage the strengths of SharePoint is a valuable exercise that can reap many benefits.
