You know we sometimes talk about inefficient search and what typically springs to mind is end users trying to do their job and find the information they need when they need it. In IDC’s landmark paper, ‘The Hidden Cost of Information Work’, the often quoted number is 2.5 hours per day per user is spent searching for information. Add that up and you start to build a whopping ROI. We did a ROI estimate for a client and it came to $17 million!! I think we can all agree that efficient search does provide business value but that value on a piece of paper doesn’t really illustrate the benefits and organization can achieve.
