Real Benefits of Empowering Knowledge
I wrote a blog recently about one of our clients DAI and how they are using SharePoint and our technologies to improve unstructured content lifecycle management. Another view is from Moffitt Cancer Center, a non-profit organization focused on the prevention and cure of cancer. With over 328K visits per year they wanted to build ‘MyMoffitt’ portal so patients could access information relevant to their specific health situation. Specifically within the healthcare industry, they also had to ensure the information was accurate, medically sound, and secure and aggregate information from internal Moffitt systems, government sources, as well as reliable third party sources.
The goal of the patient portal is to empower and educate patients with highly targeted and useful information, giving them a greater sense of control over their care and treatment, and ease some of their stress. According to Jennifer Camps, Director of Portal Technologies and Data Management, “With more than 30,000 current users, the MyMoffitt Patient Portal has seen significant growth, and of the new patients that come to Moffitt, 87% register for a patient portal account. All developments and enhancements are about improving the patient experience.”
Aeturnum, a Concept Searching partner, expanded the patient portal by adding intelligent search capabilities into their FAST environment and tailored the information patients received to their specific situations.
Once again, it’s not the little picture of end users trying to find information, it’s the big picture on how to deliver insightful information to those who need it, when they need it.
