Radical Enterprise Search – Really? Yes, Really
Enterprise search challenges even the best organizations. Everyone needs access to information. For some, it’s just looking for information they may be missing. For others, information is critical to performing their jobs.
In our first blog in this series we talked about our new Engineering Search solution. The next few blogs will provide some additional information, for those who are interested in search technologies or happen to be engineers or support staff.
Engineering search provides a holistic view of all structured and unstructured content. This includes just about everything. Here is a partial list:
- File shares
- Collaboration platforms
- Internal and external websites
- PLM, CAD, and SCM applications
- 2D, 3D Images and drawings
- Custom databases
- Third party and custom applications
- All unstructured, semi-structured, and structured data
- Artificial and business intelligence applications
With the Engineering Search solution, queries return any content within an organization, including images, and from any application. And it does that in under two seconds. You can even search on the size and shape of the images.
Where does engineering search begin? By creating a taxonomy and auto-classifying content. Our automatic compound term processing engine automatically tags content by phrases and concepts, and then classifies multi-word terms to a taxonomy, where they can be easily manipulated.
Pretty much out-of-the box for unstructured and semi-structured content. Then you can link to the databases, applications, image repositories, and any diverse repositories that are to be included in the search.
The user interface includes previewer capabilities, to enable you to visually depict almost any document type, and it can be designed any way you want. You can watch a demo of the solution here or request a customized demo via our website.
