How much is that doggie in the window? Just ask him he’ll tell you. Arrival of the Interspecies Internet.
Did you ever want to know what your dog or cat was thinking? Or wish you could communicate what you would like them to do, or most likely not do. Well, do not fear, the ‘Interspecies Internet’ is looming on our horizon. This new ‘Interspecies Internet’ will also work in communicating with Aliens (yes, as in from outer space).
Peter Gabriel who started his career as a musician with Genesis has joined the founder of the Internet Vint Cerf and a cognitive psychologist at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Neil Gershenfeld, to launch an ‘Interspecies Internet’ to enable animals (and aliens) to communicate with us and with each other.
According to the article, “Cerf, now chief Internet evangelist at Google, spoke of an inter-species Internet as a test run for communicating with life encountered while exploring space. “These interactions with other animals will teach us, ultimately, how we might interact with an alien from another world,” he added. “I can hardly wait.”
Neil Gershenfeld signed onto the effort after seeing a video of Gabriel’s jam session and concluding that leaving the rest of the planet out of the Internet was an omission in need of correction. The first test run is a touchscreen device for dolphins.
Luckily, our dog has not asked for his own laptop and touchscreen yet, good thing he can’t talk. Oops, maybe he can.
