Efficiency, Search, and Intelligent Content in Context in the Digital Workplace

I actually looked up the definition of efficiency. It is “The ability to do something or produce something without wasting materials, time, or energy.” On the manufacturing floor, these are critical components for keeping costs down and productivity up. But what about attaining efficiency for staff and business professionals?

In attempting to achieve an effective digital workplace, there are few organizations that track each and every process from inception to completion, and analyze how this could be done in a manner that generates a positive return. Most adopt the approach that if it works, then don’t fix it, or that it has always been done that way. Hmm, so we are stuck with antiquated, inefficient, and time consuming processes?

I think it’s time to get down to basics. What is one of the biggest and most overlooked problems in many organizations? The overwhelming and steady influx of content. The most obvious indication of unmanaged or mismanaged content is poor and inefficient search. According to the definition of efficiency, it seems only two out of the three goals are being realized – time and energy. Why would the issue of materials be addressed on the shop floor, but not in the office? Beats me.

Surfacing intelligent content in context is what Concept Searching solutions do. All content, regardless of source or environment, is auto-classified against organizationally aligned taxonomies. Our still unique compound term processing extracts multi-word metadata that forms concepts. This approach has been proven to significantly improve search outcomes and enable concept-based searching across an enterprise. Since subjective end user tagging is eliminated, a consistent, meaningful, organizationally-aligned structure of metadata is available that can be used to effectively manage enterprise content.

The metadata framework is extensible, and applies to any application that uses metadata. Think records management, eliminating data breaches, intelligent migration, secure collaboration, knowledge management, and text analytics. Improve decision making, customer service, and sales revenue. Eliminate staff frustration, and reduce errors. Efficiency – guaranteed.
