Are We Part of the GDPR Problem? Yes, I Mean You
The deadline for General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) compliance is fast approaching. It’s a bit like the situation of when the year was about to change from 1999 to 2000, and it was feared that all applications worldwide may cease functioning.
Yup, I’m that old. But the world went on and everything was ok, well at least for most organizations. With GDPR, some are interested bystanders, some can’t sleep at night as they won’t be ready, and some couldn’t care less.
Regardless of where you stand, the protection of our privacy information is not just the responsibility of companies that we choose to share our information with, but it is our own personal responsibility.
The Facebook and Cambridge Analytica scandal has highlighted the point that you, yes you, are often quite willing to exchange your personal data in order to obtain information, deals, and credit, and for a host of other reasons. But remember, you are the one responsible. We are often way too willing to share our personal information, and rarely do we think of the negative consequences.
Maybe we should think twice before we hit the enter key? What do you think?
Our webinars also address the topics explored in our blogs. Access all our webinar recordings and presentation slides at any time, from our website, in the Recorded Webinars area, via the Resources tab.
