Automatic Application of Policy
Content types in SharePoint 2010 enable organizations to take advantage of the workflow capabilities that can enhance organizational performance while driving down costs. The only obstacle with content type applications is that individuals have to decide which content type applies to every document ingested by SharePoint. For organizations with quite a bit of content this is not trivial matter.
With over 75,000 SharePoint implementation hours, we have learned a few things about the product. One is the need for a strong and robust taxonomy management and auto-classification system. We can now seamlessly integrate classification features into our solutions, improve search result satisfaction, and significantly reduce the amount of time and money spent classifying content.”

Organizations can rapidly develop and deploy taxonomies and controlled vocabularies associated with business processes using conceptContentTypeUpdater along with the conceptClassifier for SharePoint 2010 taxonomy manager component. For example, creating a taxonomy that mirrors the records management file plan or one that addresses vocabulary and descriptors found in confidential and privacy data.
conceptContentTypeUpdater uses records retention codes, semantic, and security metadata associated to data assets to identify and process the automatic application of content types. Once documents have the appropriate content type, based on natural language and automatically applied metadata, workflows can be initiated.
