Concept Searching Partners with Smartronix

Combining Technology and Mission-critical Technical Expertise with Market Leading Software to Solve Information Management Issues for Government and the Commercial Sector

Concept Searching has entered into a partnership agreement with Smartronix, a global leader in delivering innovative, secure, and agile technology solutions.

This arrangement brings together Concept Searching’s expertise in semantic metadata generation, auto-classification, and taxonomy management, and Smartronix experience in the design and implementation of enterprise-class solutions for the public sector, specializing in Federal and the DoD. The partnership also builds on an already successful joint implementation for a federal regulatory body.

Concept Searching’s conceptClassifier for SharePoint is a key technology component as it can be deployed in any version of SharePoint. “With several of our largest clients deploying SharePoint 2010 and SharePoint 2013 it was important for us to have a technology platform that seamlessly integrated with the investments our customers have already made,” stated Gaurav Pal, Director of Strategic Programs at Smartronix. “The technology needed to scale to support the large datasets and websites that Smartronix currently manages. It also needed to be ‘cloud ready’ and run in Amazon Web Services (AWS).” Smartronix and Concept Searching currently have two pilot customers running SharePoint and conceptClassifier on AWS.

Concept Searching’s intelligent metadata solutions are ideal for improving search, records management, and text analytics. Many of Smartronix’ customers, especially those in highly regulated and compliance driven markets, have vast amounts of data. Traditional full text search and indexing technologies are great at finding data where the search terms are already defined. However, experience has shown that users request data in terms of concepts and often miss highly relevant and related data when they specify only keywords. Concept Searching’s conceptClassifier product enables Smartronix to include automatic semantic metadata tagging, auto-classification, and taxonomy management technologies in its solutions. When deployed in parallel with enterprise search solutions, the end user gets a more complete and accurate search experience with higher relevancy results.

Responses from the Concept Searching client base revealed that 33 percent have used the technologies for migration, with 53 percent of the broader marketplace looking for a solution that can intelligently address the migration process. The migration process now requires more sophisticated techniques to ensure compliance objectives are met. Simply moving documents from one repository is not enough, as content that was typically unmanaged will remain unmanaged, continuing to expose an organization to risk. Information cannot be managed from inception to deletion without comprehensive metadata associated with the content, and incorporating the multiple channels and origination points from which content was received.

Concept Searching’s Smart Content Framework™ Improves Intranet Search Results for DAI

Intelligent Search Delivers Knowledge to Harness Resources through Global Development Intranet

Concept Searching is pleased to announce that DAI has deployed Concept Searching’s technologies to improve its classification processes and search results.

DAI is an employee-owned global development company, working on the frontlines of international development to tackle fundamental social and economic development problems caused by inefficient markets, ineffective governance, and instability.

It needed an efficient way of capturing and compiling information throughout the lifecycle of the business – from market intelligence to proposal development to project implementation and lessons learned. DAI’s corporate portal, built on a SharePoint platform, needed to act as a window onto this data, to enable up to 1,500 employees access to information. In order to achieve that goal, a more powerful set of tools was needed than those available in SharePoint.

Steven O’Connor, Director of Communications, DAI, said, “Forty years, thousands of projects and proposals, and tens of thousands of contacts means that lots of information resides in lots of different places. Access to this information is key. While no system will write a proposal for us, conceptClassifier for SharePoint is helping us to aggregate and focus on the data that is most relevant to the task at hand, pointing staff in the right direction and helping them identify ‘what we know and how we know it’.”

conceptClassifier for SharePoint Maintains Globally Unique Identifiers (GUIDs) Across Environments

Concept Searching Enables Migration of Term Sets While Maintaining GUIDs

Concept Searching is pleased to announce that it has solved the inherent issue within SharePoint of maintaining the Globally Unique Identifiers (GUIDs) when migrating term sets from one environment to another, such as from test to staging and staging to production.

Managed metadata terms and term sets each have unique GUIDs. Until now, when a SharePoint administrator takes a backup of a staging site that is using managed metadata in some columns in a list, and seeks to restore or migrate it to production, the GUIDs do not match up, resulting in a manual term by term process to re-align the GUIDs. While this is fine if the number of terms is small, it is of no use to enterprise clients, with many thousands of terms.

There have been some custom code utilities written to address this, and Microsoft offers some best practice advice, but what enterprise customers have been looking for is a way to manage the term sets using a simple migration process integrated natively with the platform.

Concept Searching’s conceptClassifier for SharePoint has solved the problem, and enables clients deploying the tool to migrate term sets, while maintaining the GUIDs from one environment to another.

conceptClassifier for SharePoint Available for Microsoft Office 365

Concept Searching’s Smart Content Framework™ Cloud Ready

Concept Searching’s award winning conceptClassifier for SharePoint is available for all Office 365 products, with general customer shipment on December 15th 2012. This first to market solution for conceptual metadata generation, auto-classification and term store management enables the Microsoft Office 365 platform to become a viable option for large scale enterprises and government agencies, and confirms Concept Searching as the strategic choice for organizations deploying SharePoint in the cloud, on-premise or in a hybrid environment.

Prior to this announcement, Office 365 clients have only ever had the ability to tag and classify content to the term store manually, which is at best inconsistent and rarely occurs at all. This has been the biggest barrier to enterprise account adoption. This has in part been due to a number of inherent technical issues that had to be overcome to deploy the solution, including real time synchronization with the term store, a key feature Concept Searching was first to market with for SharePoint 2010.

The full functionality of the conceptClassifier for SharePoint product suite is available for Office 365. Clients can now chose to deploy exclusively in the cloud, on-premise or a combination of the two, with the application building out and managing the term sets, synchronizing the term store and auto-classifying content across the environment.

In addition, clients can tag content anywhere across the enterprise, classify that content to the term store and based upon metadata drive actions on content such as migration, identification of sensitive information or the identification of documents of record, and move the content automatically to the environment of choice.

conceptClassifier for SharePoint 2013 Available

Concept Searching’s Smart Content Framework™ Continues to Add Value to SharePoint

Concept Searching is pleased to announce that its conceptClassifier for SharePoint 2013 is available and will be demonstrated at the SharePoint Conference 2012, November 12th-15th, in Las Vegas, Nevada, at booth 957.

conceptClassifier for SharePoint 2013 is now available on limited release, with general customer shipment on November 30th 2012. Concept Searching was the first to market with the product that natively integrates, reads and writes to the SharePoint 2010 term store, and is delighted to confirm the same capabilities are now deployed and available with SharePoint 2013.

Microsoft has placed even greater emphasis on the term store, and in the creation and management of term sets, with this new release of SharePoint. conceptClassifier for SharePoint is a key component in expediting the development, testing and validating of multiple term sets, and the on-going management, to address the flux of information as organizational objectives change and information is added.

SharePoint 2013 still has no automatic concept extraction capabilities to populate the term sets, nor auto-classification capabilities to align content – real requirements to improve a variety of mission critical processes. conceptClassifier for SharePoint delivers these missing components.

Defence, Development Concepts and Doctrine Centre Improves Relevant Information Access by 50%

Concept Searching, a global leader in semantic metadata generation, auto-classification, taxonomy management software, and developer of the Smart Content Framework™, is pleased to announce that the Defence, Development Concepts and Doctrine Centre (DCDC), a Ministry of Defence (MOD) think-tank located in the UK, is using Concept Searching’s conceptSearch engine and Web-Labs’ services and software to manage an archive of military and historical documents, images and recordings.

The DCDC is required to provide research and support decisions in operational and strategic military activity. It needed exhaustive and timely access to all relevant documents in the military archive, but the archive was a classic keyword based system and therefore not intelligently searchable. Concept Searching’s conceptSearch delivered the unique industry ability to automatically generate semantic metadata through concept extraction, significantly improving search results.

According to T Longland CVO OBE, Brigadier (Retd) DCDC, “Our previous system restricted our access to the information by a factor of at least 50%. Something that would have taken weeks is now taking just a few days. Furthermore, the intelligence in the search has meant that sometimes the database will link papers that we wouldn’t have linked in a million years. I am confident that we don’t skip or ignore important information.”

“Using the first two building blocks of the Smart Content Framework™, Metadata and Insight, the DCDC benefits from implementing a framework that offers not only a robust search solution but also provides insight and delivery of relevant information to the right people,” said Martin Garland, President, Concept Searching. “We are delighted to have worked with Web-Labs and the DCDC to solve significant search challenges.

While not dedicated to the Microsoft platform, Concept Searching is Microsoft’s only Managed Partner that delivers taxonomy management and auto-classification technology integrated with SharePoint 2010 that is certified for enterprise deployment across the DoD. Clients such as the US Air Force, the US Army, and the US Army Medical Command have all selected Concept Searching as their solution to manage unstructured content,” he concluded.
